Arc XP Paywall: Rule Capabilities
Paywall Rules are the atomic building block of your paywall strategy. Rules combine targeting of specific content and audience criteria with a content budget and associated marketing offer. You can bundle one or more Rules together and deploy them as a Ruleset. Whenever a customer consumes content on your site, the Paywall evaluator will see if the reader is allowed to consume the content or if they should be presented with an offer to register or subscribe instead.
Paywall Examples
The Arc XP Subscription paywall supports a wide variety of business strategies, like the following:
-
Hardwall: Readers must have a subscription in order to access the content.
-
Paymeter: Limit all readers to five stories every 45 days.
-
Freemium: Some content is free to consume whereas other content requires a subscription. You can flag the premium content by section or setting the paywall status on the individual articles in Composer.
-
Regwall + Paymeter: Readers must log in to their account after the second piece of content and purchase a subscription after their fourth piece of content for the month.
-
Global + section-specific paymeters: Readers can consume 10 stories from across the site but if they read more than three Opinion pieces within 20 days, they’ll be required to purchase a subscription. You can also offer Opinions Section only micro subscriptions at a reduced rate that only unlocks access to this vertical.
-
Offer pop-up escalation: Readers see a dismissable prompt encouraging them to subscribe after five page views in a month but see a non-dismissable offer after eight page views.
